With St Andrew's Day approaching on the 30th of November, it's a great excuse for Scotland to be celebrating and enjoying the festivities of the national holiday. Fellow Scots and Scots-at-heart come together every year to celebrate this special day in honour of the patron saint of Scotland. It's a great opportunity to showcase the best of Scotland's culture which is known for being warm, kind, friendly and caring. Like every year, the celebration includes an array of exciting and entertaining events around Scotland that are sure to bring you a taste of pure Scottish food, drink, music and dance. Here's a quick rundown on some fun events that are happening this year!

St Andrew's Fair Saturday

On the last Saturday of November, Scotland will be joining the celebration of Fair Saturday for the very first time! Fair Saturday is a great non-profit organisation that generates a positive impact to help improve and better the world through art and culture. The proceeds from the event will be donated to charities and causes which promote sharing and fairness around the world.  As Fair Saturday falls on the same day as St Andrew's Day, this makes the perfect collaboration to celebrate together as both share the same values. This year there will be incredible events taking place ranging from theatre, dance and live music - a great way to start the party! 

The Saltire Festival 

With its 10th Anniversary in 2019, it certainly is a big year for the Saltire Festival! What might you expect? Taking place in East Lothian, you can celebrate with fantastic new events offering tasty food and drink, live entertainment and history-themed experiences. If you're interested in exploring the location's main landmakrs, running through an illuminated Foxtrail or simply enjoying the atmosphere at the farmer's market whilst picking up a few recipes, then this might be for you!

Oban Winter Festival 

Enjoy an unforgettable 10 day event this year with Oban's Winter Festival! Located on the west coast, the festival takes place in town which makes it easy to get around. Discover its fantastic offerings from shopping, restaurants, tour of the local distillery or a coffee from their many cafes whilst enjoying the view of the bay. The events each day will bring you something a little different, packed with food markets, Reindeer parades, Christmas lights switch on, ceilidhs and lots more!
